Designer Reimagines The Macintosh Introduction In Concept Video

Apple makes beautiful videos to unveil its new products on stage these days, but that wasn’t always the case. Due to the limitations of technology, products like the Original Macintosh never had a super 3D introduction — although the “1984” ad is quite emblematic. Now Thibaut Crepelle has created a video to show what the Macintosh introduction would look like in 2021. Crepelle, a motion designer, decided that he wanted to create cool animations for vintage products, and he believes that the 1984 Macintosh was the perfect product for this (via The Loop)....

Cydia Tweak Brings Webos Like Card Switching Multitasking To Ios

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-HWdMl4nDA&w=640&h=390] Let’s be honest, the iOS task switcher that springs into action when you double-click the home button isn’t the most user-friendly implementation of task switching on mobile devices. Truth be told, many people who played with webOS devices came away impressed with the card metaphor efficiency, allowing you to quickly flip running tasks in and out of the screen. It feels right and quickly becomes second nature. You can now have that same card switching multitasking interface, on your jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch (iPad version is coming soon) by downloading the CardSwitcher tweak in the Cydia Store....

Dc S Titans Show Confirms Robin Was A Killer When Working With Batman

DC Universe’s Titans series depicts a much darker world than the animated shows about the same characters, and now it’s confirmed that Dick Grayson’s Robin was a killer, even as Batman’s sidekick. The question of vigilante brutality has been a big issue in recent years, especially since Ben Affleck’s portrayal of the caped crusader in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Titans certainly makes bloody fights and questionable violence central to its plot....

Dead Island 2 Update It Still Lives But Under A Different Developer

THQ Nordic has put the development of Dead Island 2 in the hands of Dambuster Studios, who most recently worked on Homefront: the Revolution. Back in 2014, Dead Island 2 was revealed via Sony’s E3 press conference. Since then the game has had an incredibly rocky development cycle, between moving back and forth between three development studios and delay after delay. Sumo Digital was the last studio to have their hands on the project, but things obviously didn’t work out....

Defining The New Social Media Landscape

If you joined Facebook in the mid-2000s or Instagram in the early 2010s, your goal was probably to see what your friends were up to. But let’s say you joined later, during the rise of the influencer. Your reasoning might have been to keep up with news or the latest trends, with a side of keeping tabs on people you went to high school with. If you picked up TikTok during the pandemic, you might have been looking for a lockdown diversion—a goal that TikTok recognizes as it brands itself as an “entertainment platform” rather than a social media platform....

Delicious Com Is Being Shut Down By Yahoo

Earlier this week Yahoo trimmed it’s workforce laying off roughly 600 employees. Following the layoffs are more changes, and it seems Yahoo doesn’t know what to do with itself so they’re taking a cut-n-run approach. The Delicious social bookmarking site will be closing in the next few months, followed by other Yahoo services. It has been 5 years since Yahoo acquired Delicious from the developer Joshua Schachter, when I first saw news of the acquisition I was excited because I thought Yahoo would take it to new heights....

Dark Sky Overhaul Brings New Design And Simplified Forecast View

I recently took a look at the various weather apps for iPhone (read the roundup here). Dark Sky was one of my absolute favorite apps, and today it gets even better. Despite already having the gold standard (in my opinion) of weather data, it now brings one of the best-looking apps to the table as well. While I didn’t think the old app was bad, in hindsight, it was a little dated looking....
