Dead Island 2’s development cycle has been something of an odyssey since it was announced at E3 during a Sony press conference more than five years ago, but the highly anticipated sequel to Deep Silver’s 2011 survival horror/action RPG is still very much in development. Thankfully, the game’s publisher is confident the final product will prove to be worth the wait for fans, too. The original game was developed by Techland, the studio behind Dying Light and Call of Juarez, and was a big hit upon release, moving more than five million units....

A pair of developments have emerged today in Apple’s ongoing relationship with the Cupertino government. First and foremost, the Cupertino City Council is backing away from its plan of an employee “head tax” following opposition from Apple. Further, the city is reportedly in talks to build a Hyperloop that would run right by Apple Park… As reported by The WSJ, Cupertino officials were looking to raise as much as $10 million through its proposed “head tax,” which would tax large employers based on the number of employees they had....

HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm stars its creator, Larry David, as a fictionalized version of himself who voices the concerns that he would normally keep to himself. The character is a dark mirror version of all of us, complaining about social conventions that most people just put up with, despite hating them. The supporting cast is made up of Larry’s roster of pals, but as a misanthrope who despises human contact, he gets along with astoundingly few of the people he considers to be his closest and dearest friends....

Long-time X-Men film producer and Dark Phoenix director Simon Kinberg picks Iron Man as the Marvel hero he wants to see crossover with the mutants the most. Disney’s recently finished acquisition of Fox’s TV and movie assets effectively brings back the rights to the X-Men, Fantastic Four and all their tie-in characters to Marvel, which means that Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige can now integrate them into the MCU. And if Kinberg has any say on future plans regarding these superheroes, he will start with Robert Downey Jr....

DC’s Black Label has brought some more mature books to the market. Numerous critically acclaimed books have been published under the new imprint. However, if there’s been one persisting issue with the line is the numerous release delays - but DC promises that won’t be an issue going forward. DC’s mature reader’s imprint launched its first book, Batman: Damned, in September 2018. The controversial book was delayed so many times it took over six months to release three issues....

DC’s Event Leviathan left the DC Universe’s political structures in shambles. The Leviathan organization systematically destroyed the world’s major spy agencies in a handful of masterstrokes, with every revelation creating more questions. The already sprawling cast of the upcoming Arrowverse crossover, Crisis on Infinite Earths, just got devilishly more so - with Lucifer star Tom Ellis reportedly joining the action. DC’s long gestating The Flash movie has often been rumored to be an adaptation of the iconic Flashpoint comic book story line, and while it appears that is still the case, it won’t be following the comic too closely. The story is the title of this year’s crossover event of the CW superhero shows, inspired by the 1985-1986 comics saga of the same name. Crossovers have been a staple of the Arrowverse ever since The CW began adding new shows to its shared universe of series....

One of the challenges Apple has faced in making its services truly personal and proactive is its focus on privacy. While Google unashamedly collects masses of data about its users, even going to far as to scan emails for boarding passes and restaurant reservations in order to provide automated reminders, Apple has been extremely conservative in the amount of data it collects. We even learned a few months ago that any collection of customer data requires sign-off from three ‘privacy tsars’ and that getting permission can take a year....
